BRONCHITIS IN PEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY
At SOMSALUT we perform combined techniques of respiratory physiotherapy and pediatric respiratory osteopathy; together they are very effective in improving the condition of the baby or child.
One of the main advantages of pediatric osteopathy is that the treatment allows to alleviate the symptoms present from the first visit, and is also reflected in possible episodes in the future. In this way, we prevent it from becoming chronic.
But what exactly is bronchitis?
Acute bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial mucosa that causes a respiratory infection in the lung. This causes the baby to have an obstruction and narrowing of the smaller passages in the lung, which can cause:
- Nasal obstruction
- Cough
- fatigue
- Breathing noises
- fever
- Loss of appetite
- Disturbance of sleep
At SOMSALUT we are rigorous in observing any symptom to perform the most specific and appropriate treatment. Our goal is always to follow a professional and non-invasive line of treatment for the baby. In addition, we explain to parents why and for what purpose we carry out each technique.
TREATMENT
Osteopathic treatment in these cases is done with very gentle techniques for the baby. The accessory muscles of breathing will be worked on, as well as the mobility of the ribcage and, if necessary, the facial muscles. Techniques to release tension from the paranasal sinuses and remove excess mucus build-up may also be included, including lymphatic drainage.
We must always look at the neck which has neurological connections with the lungs and diaphragm and therefore if we find restrictions there it is important to treat them.
A feature that sets us apart is that we teach parents exercises to do with their little ones to improve their condition as soon as possible, thus minimizing the dependency generated towards the professional who attends them. By changing routines or teaching simple but very useful exercises for them.
Finally, it is important to understand that bronchitis treated well, both with medicine and with manual therapy, will be more effective than using only one option, and will achieve a faster recovery.
